Panic gripped Bokaro Steel Plant on Thursday morning after a gas leak was detected in CRM-03’s Acid Regeneration Plant (ARP-3). The strong smell spread rapidly, forced workers to run for safety. The area was immediately sealed and water was sprayed to neutralize the effect of the leaked gas.

Emergency teams from the Fire Brigade and the EMD rushed to the site soon after the incident, which occurred around 11 am. Investigations revealed that a hole in the drain port pipeline had caused the leak. The team promptly shut the valve to contain the situation and inspected other joints to ensure there were no further leaks.

Plant Operations Normal, Workers Safe
BSL spokesperson Manikant Dhan said the situation was brought under control quickly and confirmed that no worker was injured. “All employees were evacuated in time and the area was thoroughly inspected by the EMD and Safety Engineering Department. The situation is completely normal now,” he said.
