Over two months after their promotion, 63 Jharkhand Police inspectors elevated to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) are still awaiting posting orders. Despite having received their promotion on 26th June and donning the DSP insignia on their shoulders, the officers continue to perform inspector-level duties and draw the same salary and allowances.

Posting List Awaiting Approval
Departmental sources confirmed that the transfer and posting list for the newly promoted DSPs has already been prepared. The process will begin as soon as it receives clearance from the Home, Jail & Disaster Management Department and ministerial approval. In total, postings of 102 DSPs are pending, including 39 newly recruited officers who have completed their training. The upcoming list will also include transfers of currently serving DSPs, making it one of the largest reshuffles in recent years.

Five IPS Officers in Waiting
Apart from DSPs, five IPS officers, including 1997-batch ADG Suman Gupta and 2015-batch Dr. Ehthesham Wakarib, are also awaiting postings since 27th May 2025. To ensure continuity of salary, they have been issued compulsory wait certificates.
Impact on Police Administration
The delay in postings is being widely discussed within the police department, as it has left promoted officers working in a State of limbo. Officials say timely postings would help strengthen field administration and improve law and order management across the state.
