Amit Khare Appointed as Secretary to Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan
Former IAS officer Amit Khare, known for exposing the Bihar fodder scam, has been appointed Secretary to Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan for a three-year term. A 1985-batch Jharkhand-cadre officer, he earlier advised the PM and helped frame the National Education Policy 2020.
TSPC Commander With ₹5 Lakh Bounty Killed in Palamu Encounter
A TSPC extremist, suspected to be Mukhdev Yadav alias Toofan, was killed in Palamu’s Gorwatarn jungle during a joint operation by CoBRA, Jharkhand Jaguars, and district police. Arms were recovered; zonal commander Shashikant escaped. Yadav faced 27 criminal cases.
Mining Projects Need 20,000 Hectares for Compensatory Afforestation

Jharkhand Govt to Refund ₹113 Crore Covid Cess to BCCL
The Jharkhand High Court ordered refund of ₹113.17 crore collected as Covid cess after July 2023. BCCL had challenged the levy and stopped charging consumers in July 2025. The relief boosts BCCL’s finances and cuts costs for coal-linked power and non-power companies.
Draft Khassmahal Land Policy to Ease Lease and Renewal
The new Jharkhand Khassmahal Policy-2025 will simplify lease approval and renewal at DC/Commissioner level, introduce online monitoring, lower salami rates to ~1–1.5%, and allow residential/commercial use, aiming to boost revenue and minimize disputes.
CBI Chargesheet on Illegal Coal Transport Racket
The CBI filed a chargesheet against 22 accused including a CCL manager for running an organised illegal coal transport racket. Earlier raids recovered cash, mobile data and transaction records. The case will be heard in the special CBI court.
