Tension gripped Wasseypur on Tuesday morning as the National Investigation Agency (NIA), backed by Bank More police, carried out a surprise raid at the residence of Shahbaz Ansari near Jabbar Masjid. The unannounced operation drew crowds to the narrow lanes of Wasseypur, as police cordoned off the area and additional security forces were deployed to maintain order.

Bundles of Cash, Records Seized
Officials reportedly recovered a significant quantity of cash from the house and brought in cash-counting machines to tally the amount on site. Apart from cash, the NIA team seized multiple documents, electronic devices, and bank records. Technical experts are now tracing the origin of the money and checking for links with any criminal networks or illegal business activities.

The raid created a stir in the locality, with many residents gathering near the house and speculating about possible wider ramifications. Security personnel kept media teams outside the premises, limiting direct coverage of the operation. Locals said Ansari is a well-known figure in Wasseypur, and the raid has caused unease among business families in the area.

By evening, the NIA team wrapped up the search and left with bundles of seized cash and files. Dhanbad SSP Prabhat Kumar confirmed the operation, saying, “The NIA was in Wasseypur for a specific operation, and necessary procedures were followed,” but declined to share further details. Officials are expected to disclose findings once the investigation and cash verification are completed.
