Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) reiterated its commitment to the welfare of employees and their families during the BCCL Welfare Board meeting held on Tuesday at Coal Bhawan. The meeting was chaired by Director (HRD) Murali Krishna Ramaiyya and attended by senior BCCL officials and representatives from various workers’ unions.
Unions Pushed for Healthcare Improvements
Union representatives raised a series of demands, including increasing the number of medicine distribution counters at Central Hospital from the present level to seven, improving the Hospital Management System (HMS), setting up an ATM facility in the hospital premises, and repairing water treatment plants in workers’ colonies. They also sought full payment of pending ambulance charges at the hospital.

Medical Cards for Contract and Retired Workers
A key demand was the issuance of medical cards for contract workers engaged in BCCL and cashless medical cards for retired employees, to ensure uninterrupted access to healthcare. Unions highlighted that these steps are necessary to address long-standing grievances of workers and strengthen faith in the company’s welfare policies.
Management Assured Consideration
Director (HRD) Ramaiyya called the suggestions “important for management” and assured that the company would strive to implement them. “BCCL has always remained committed to the overall development and welfare of its employees and their families. The suggestions made today will be carefully considered for implementation,” he said.
