Few months ago, when Chief Minister Hemant Soren led Jharkhand’s delegation attended the Bengal Global Business Summit and received investment proposals worth Rs. 26,000 crores, the State Government is yet to finalise dates for signing the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). The proposals, which are expected to generate more than 15,000 jobs, have reached the Chief Secretary’s office but remain stuck without a timeline.

Industry Department Awaits Green Signal
Sources in the Industry department confirmed that company representatives have been visiting their offices repeatedly for the last two to three months, seeking clarity on MoU signings. Despite their interest, the process has not moved forward, and the final decision on dates is still pending at the top level.

Such delays could dent investor confidence at a time when Jharkhand is pushing its Advantage Jharkhand initiative to attract new industries. Quick action on MoUs would send a positive message to potential investors and ensure that the promised employment generation does not face unnecessary hurdles

Proposals Received During Bengal Summit
The proposals were presented during the Bengal Global Business Summit held in February 2025 at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, Kolkata. Chief Minister Hemant Soren had pitched Jharkhand as a growing “Investors Hub,” highlighted its rich mineral base, industrial ecosystem, and potential for growth in sectors like textiles, tourism, and culture.
