India’s Coal Exports Rise 23% to 1.9 Million Tonnes in FY 2024–25
India’s coal exports surged by 23.4% to 1.908 million tonnes in FY 2024–25, up from 1.546 million tonnes the previous year, according to provisional Government data. The growth comes as the government pushes to capitalise on the rising global demand for fossil fuels, particularly coal and petroleum, to boost export revenues and energy trade presence.

Truckers Protest Coal Transport via Conveyor Belt, Halt Operations for Two Hours in Barkagaon
Members of the Haiva Truckers’ Association blocked the road near TP-8 for two hours on Tuesday, protesting coal transport through conveyor belts to Banadag railway station. Led by vice-president Pankaj Kumar, they demanded resumption of coal transport via trucks. Operations resumed after NTPC AGM Manoj Kumar assured that environmental clearance would be secured within a week.
Second Contract Worker Injured in BSL Accident Died
The second contract worker, Om Prakash Mohli, injured in the 28th September accident at Bokaro Steel Plant’s SMS-02 unit, succumbed to his burns at BGH on Tuesday. Earlier, one worker had died on 3rd October, while another remains under treatment. Following company policy, BSL offered a permanent job to Mohli’s wife, Asha Mohli, as compensation.
