JMM Breaks Alliance with INDIA Bloc in Bihar, to Contest Alone on Six Seats
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has parted ways with the INDIA alliance in Bihar, accusing RJD and Congress of betrayal. JMM leader Supriyo Bhattacharya announced the party will contest six seats — Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria, Manihari, Jamui, and Pirpainti — on its own. He said JMM values respect over compromise and may expand to 10 seats. The party also released a 20-member star campaigner list including CM Hemant Soren.
Triangular Contest Likely in Ghatshila Bypoll as JLKAM Fields Ramdas Murmu
The Ghatshila bypoll is set for a triangular contest after Jayram Mahato’s Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKAM) nominated Ramdas Murmu as its candidate. Murmu, who secured 8,093 votes in 2024, will file nomination on 21st October. His entry may upset BJP’s equation, prompting political sparring between BJP and JMM. JLKAM plans to campaign on local and employment issues.
High Court Rules FPO Must Be Included in Stamp Duty Calculation for Mining Leases
The Jharkhand High Court upheld the State Government’s view that the Final Price Offer (FPO) from coal block auctions must be included in stamp duty calculations for mining leases. Dismissing petitions by Aranya Mines, JSW Steel, and Fairmine Carbons, the bench of Justices Sujit Narayan Prasad and A.K. Rai ruled that FPO represents the government’s share and must be factored into stamp duty assessment.
Dhanteras Bonanza: 2000 Crore Business in Jharkhand as GST Relief Spurs Buying
Jharkhand witnessed record Dhanteras sales worth over Rs. 2000 crore, led by Rs. 700 crore in Ranchi, Rs. 650 crore in Jamshedpur, and Rs. 500 crore in Dhanbad. The GST slab revision boosted demand across automobiles, jewellery, electronics, and utensils. Around 25,000 two-wheelers and 4,000 cars were sold, while jewellery alone saw Rs. 710 crore in turnover, marking a sharp rise from last year’s Rs. 1712 crore.

Coal Siding Transport Workers Go on Strike in Jamtara Over Three-Month Unpaid Wages
Workers of Sharma Transport Company, responsible for coal transportation from Chitra Colliery to Jamtara railway siding, went on strike after not receiving salaries for three months. The employees alleged repeated delays and mismanagement, forcing them to protest frequently. They said the company ignored their demands even during the festive season and plan to approach the district administration for resolution.
ACB Begins Probe Against Inspector Accused of Demanding Money from Coal Trader
A Dhanbad-based coal trader has accused Inspector Ganesh Singh of demanding money, prompting the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to register an Initial Report (IR) and begin investigation. Officials confirmed the case is under preliminary inquiry and could lead to a formal case if evidence is found. Singh, formerly with ACB and now posted in STF, earlier served as NGO in-charge.
