Jharkhand Yet to Send IAS Promotion List to UPSC
While Bihar and 18 other states have promoted state service officers to the IAS, Jharkhand has not yet sent its list to the UPSC. Nineteen Jharkhand Administrative Service officers are due for promotion, but a court dispute over seniority has stalled the process. The court directed that only 46 eligible officers’ names be sent, but the panel remains pending.
Written Consent Must for Women Working Night Shifts in Jharkhand
The Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development Department has issued a gazette notification amending the Factory Act with 20 key guidelines. Employers must obtain written consent from women before assigning night shifts between 7 PM and 6 AM. The rules mandate GPS-enabled transport, separate toilets, childcare centres, CCTV, and strict safety and dignity measures for women workers.
Supreme Court Hearing on Saranda Sanctuary Case Today
The Supreme Court will hear the Saranda Sanctuary case on 27th October. A bench of Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran will review Jharkhand Government’s affidavit, which includes an undertaking to declare Saranda as a sanctuary. The state has requested exemption for existing mines, valid leases, and inhabited areas within the proposed zone.
Chief Secretary Orders Departments to Submit Reports to Finance Commission in 15 Days
Jharkhand Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar has directed all departments to provide pending data and reports to the State Finance Commission within 15 days. The directive follows a reminder from the Commission citing delays. During a review meeting, some departments confirmed submission, while others were instructed to expedite reports and inform the Finance Department accordingly.

BSL Employee Suspended for Misusing Technical Access
A Bokaro Steel Plant employee, Ravi Ranjan from the C&IT Department, was suspended for fraudulently withdrawing over Rs. 10.5 lakh from a colleague’s PF and cooperative loan accounts using forged documents. The scam surfaced when victim Umesh Kumar applied for a genuine loan. The PF amount has been recovered, and an inquiry is underway for the remaining sum.
BCCL Workers in Fire-Hit Jharia to Be Shifted by December
Under the first phase of Jharia rehabilitation, BCCL employees living in underground fire-affected zones will be relocated to safer areas by December. Of 648 families, 425 have already been shifted by October 25. The Coal Ministry, during a review with JRDA and BCCL officials, emphasized speedy relocation and restoration work in Belgaria for secure resettlement.
Villagers Protest CCL Policies Over Compensation and Displacement in Piparwar

Wife of Rs. 15 Lakh Bounty Maoist Ravindra Ganjhu Arrested
In a special police operation led by SP Kumar Gaurav, Chandwa police arrested Lalita Devi, wife of wanted Maoist commander Ravindra Ganjhu, who carries a Rs. 15 lakh bounty. She was sent to Latehar jail. The arrest was made in connection with Jobang police case number 33/18 of Lohardaga district, where she faces multiple charges.
