Jharkhand Cabinet Cleared 13 Key Decisions
The Jharkhand Cabinet, led by CM Hemant Soren, approved 13 proposals, including Rs. 236.20 crore for the Cambo Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme in Ranchi, Rs. 7.84 crore for the Ghatshila by-election, and road projects worth over Rs. 80 crore in Dumka. Stamp duty was waived on land allotted to Olympian hockey players Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan, and VIP helicopter service was extended.
Jharkhand Chamber Alarmed as Four Major Textile Firms Plan Shift to Odisha
The Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce has expressed deep concern over reports that four leading textile companies are planning to relocate from Jharkhand to Odisha due to better industrial policies and incentives offered there. Chamber Secretary Rohit Agrawal urged the state government to urgently revise its textile policy to make it competitive and long-term. Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi termed the development a major setback, blaming policy failure, insecurity, and lack of industrial support.
CCL Faces Rs. 4348 Crore Outstanding Dues Across 206 Legal Cases
Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) is entangled in 206 pending cases involving unpaid dues of around Rs. 4348 crore across multiple departments. The biggest disputes relate to royalty and cess, amounting to Rs. 2707 crore across 56 cases, some dating back to 1973–74. Income tax disputes total Rs. 836 crore, while cases are also pending in the Supreme Court, High Court, mining, GST and commercial tax offices.
Contract Workers Threaten Shutdown at Amrapali Mine from November 6 Over Job Dispute
In Amrapali coal project (CCL), a dispute has escalated between mining contractor BLA and 291 retrenched contract workers demanding reinstatement. The Jharkhand Gramin Mazdoor Sangh has issued a warning to halt mining operations from November 6 if the agreement made on September 25 is not implemented. While workers accuse the company of delaying tactics, management claims required documents are still pending. Local MLA Ujjwal Das has backed the workers’ agitation.
Kalyan Ji Prasad Takes Charge as New GM of CCL’s Hazaribagh Area
Following a major administrative reshuffle in CCL’s mining cadre, Kalyan Ji Prasad, formerly GM of Rajrappa Area, has assumed charge as the new General Manager of Hazaribagh Area. He took over from outgoing GM Satyajeet Kumar in a simple ceremony at Charhi office, where he stressed transparency, teamwork, and commitment. The transfer is seen as a step toward strengthening organisational efficiency, boosting staff morale in the area.
CCL Assigns Additional Charge to Four General Managers
Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has allotted new responsibilities to four general managers. Kavita Gupta, GM (Manpower), has been given charge of NEE. Pratul Kumar, earlier with NEE, will now handle Industrial Relations. Ashok Kumar, GM (HR), has also been assigned responsibility for Rajbhasha, while Suman Rastogi, GM (Recruitment), has been given charge of the Samadhan Cell.
Former Coal Secretary H.C. Gupta Acquitted in Fatehpur East Coal Block Case
A Delhi special court has acquitted former Coal Secretary H.C. Gupta, RKMPowergen Pvt. Ltd., and three others in the Fatehpur East coal block allotment case, citing lack of evidence to proceed with the trial. The CBI had filed an FIR in 2014 alleging irregularities in the coal allocation process. The court ruled that no prosecutable material was found against the accused.
Bangladesh Signals It May Cancel Adani Power Deal if Irregularities Are Proven
Bangladesh’s interim Government has indicated it may cancel its existing power purchase agreement with Adani Power if corruption or irregularities are confirmed. The 2017 deal, signed under the Sheikh Hasina administration, came under scrutiny after her government exited last year. An interim review report has been submitted, and Energy Advisor Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan stated that the government will not hesitate to terminate the contract if violations are established.
India Set to Launch Rs. 7000 Crore PLI Scheme for Rare Earth Minerals
India is preparing a Rs. 7000 crore Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to boost domestic production of rare earth magnets and reduce dependence on China. The scheme, expected to be cleared by the Cabinet soon, will support around five companies and benefit sectors like electronics, EVs, defence and renewable energy. Currently, high production cost and limited technology make rare earth manufacturing unviable without government support.
Former Tata Trusts Trustee Meher Mistry Files Caveat to Secure Hearing Before Final Decision
Former Tata Trusts trustee Meher Mistry has filed a caveat before the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner to ensure he is heard before any final ruling on his removal. The Tata Trusts board had rejected his reappointment as a lifetime trustee in October 2024, with members including Noel Tata opposing it. As per rules, any board-approved changes require the Charity Commissioner’s approval within 90 days.
Neglect by Centre Led to Closure of Musabani Copper Mines: Minister Deepak Biruwa
At a Mahagathbandhan rally in Musabani, Jharkhand minister Deepak Biruwa said the once famous copper mines and industry in Musabani were shut due to the Centre’s neglect. He claimed the Heman Soren government is working to restore the region’s past glory and urged voters to elect JMM candidate Somesh Soren. Several MPs and MLAs attended the event, vowing united support.
