Report Says Jharkhand Can Earn Rs. 6.7 Lakh Crore by Shifting to Green Economy
A new IEEFA report says Jharkhand, which currently earns 32% of its revenue from coal and petroleum, can gain an additional Rs. 6.7 lakh crore by moving towards a green economy. The state will need investments of about Rs. 21.5 lakh crore between 2026 and 2070 for transition, reskilling and rehabilitation, but long-term social, economic and industrial benefits would outweigh the costs, the report claims.
Supreme Court Allows Sale of Land Without Jamabandi or Holding Record in Bihar
The Supreme Court has struck down a Patna High Court order and a 2019 Bihar Government amendment that required jamabandi and holding records for land sale or donation. The court ruled that land transactions can proceed even without these records. It also asked the Law Commission to study the issue in detail and consult all stakeholders before suggesting reforms.
Villagers Resolve Not to Give Land to Coal Companies in Badkagaon Mahapanchayat
A Mahapanchayat in Harli, Badkagaon, unanimously decided not to give land to coal companies. MLA Roshan Lal Chaudhary said no one’s land can be taken without consent, as guaranteed by the Constitution. Former MLAs and leaders accused companies and governments of ignoring people’s rights. Speakers vowed to continue the non-political fight to protect land, forests, and livelihoods. Villagers from several nearby villages joined the meet.
CCL Officer Arrested While Taking Rs. 50,000 Bribe for Compassionate Job in Khiladi
The CBI arrested CCL’s HR officer Deepak Giri in Khiladi’s NK Area after he was caught taking a Rs. 50,000 bribe from Roshan Kumar, who had applied for a compassionate job following his father’s death. Giri had allegedly demanded Rs. 1.5 lakh for processing the appointment. After Roshan complained, the CBI set a trap and caught the officer red-handed during the first payment.
Coal India and DVC to Set Up 1600 MW Ultra-Supercritical Power Plant in Chandrapura
Coal India and DVC have signed an MoU in Kolkata to jointly build a 1600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Chandrapura in Jharkhand, with 50-50 partnership and an estimated cost of Rs. 21,000 crore. The project will use advanced technology to reduce emissions, source coal from CCL, strengthen the local economy, and create jobs. Commercial production is targeted by 2031–32.
ACB Probes Former Ranchi DC for Alleged Crores Worth of Undisclosed Land and Property
Former Ranchi DC and 2011-batch IAS officer Rai Mahimapat Ray is under ACB investigation for allegedly acquiring land and flats worth over Rs. 20–25 crore through benami deals. Based on an income tax complaint filed in 2020, he is accused of buying more than 12 acres of land in Namkum, Pundag and Tupudana with help from builders. Ray is currently on central deputation with the World Bank.
CM Hemant Soren Says 75% Local Hiring Must in New Industries at Ghatshila Rally
Addressing a rally in Dhalbumgarh for the Ghatshila bypoll, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said all new industries in Jharkhand must provide 75% jobs to locals or leave the state. He accused the BJP of looting Jharkhand during its long rule and urged voters to support JMM candidate Somesh Chandra Soren as a tribute to Shibu Soren and late minister Ramdas Soren. Several ministers also addressed the gathering.
Tadasha Mishra Takes Charge as New DGP of Jharkhand
1994-batch IPS officer Tadasha Mishra formally assumed charge as Jharkhand’s new DGP on Friday and later met Chief Minister Hemant Soren. She said her focus will be stronger law and order, sensitive policing, and safety of women, children and vulnerable groups. She also stressed action against cybercrime, organised crime and Naxalism. Mishra has earlier served in key police and administrative posts across Jharkhand and Bihar.
