Green Steel Project Anchored in Low-Carbon Technology
Addressing journalists in Ranchi, Tata Steel Chief of Corporate Communication Sarvesh Kumar said the company’s flagship investment will focus on HIsarna technology, an advanced steelmaking process designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The project forms part of Tata Steel’s wider decarbonisation strategy, under which cleaner technologies will be introduced across its global operations in phases. The company has set a target of achieving net-zero carbon steel production by 2035 and plans to expand its steelmaking capacity to 40 million tonnes over the next five years.

Expansion Projects to Strengthen Industrial Growth
The Tinplate Division expansion, backed by an investment of ₹2,600 crore, is scheduled for completion by 2028 and is expected to create around 700 jobs. Tata Steel is also investing ₹1,500 crore in the Combi Mill project, which has already entered the implementation stage and is expected to reach stable operations in 2026, generating nearly 600 employment opportunities. The green steel project is targeted for completion by 2029-30 and is expected to provide employment to about 600 people.
