Verification of Jharia Fire-Affected Landowners to Begin in October
The Coal Ministry has directed the Jharia Rehabilitation and Development Authority to reverify landowner families in fire-affected areas of Dhanbad, starting this month. Verification will be done through circle offices, beginning with 1,130 families from 81 highly sensitive sites. Under the revised Jharia Master Plan, 15080 families, including 13301 non-landowners, will be relocated by December 2028, with Rs. 3365 crore allocated for compensation.
Steel Secretary Reviews Progress of SAIL’s Tasra Project in Dhanbad

Reopening of Rajaburu Mine to Boost Production and Jobs: Steel Secretary

State orders deep audit of DMFT funds amid misuse complaints
State Government has ordered a deep audit of the District Mineral Foundation Trust after complaints of misuse. Rs. 16657.95 crore collected till August 2025 will be reviewed. Five-district first phase (Dhanbad, Chaibasa, Chatra, Ramgarh, Palamu) will be audited by five finance teams. PAG earlier flagged irregularities. The audit aims to restore transparency and ensure funds benefit mining-affected communities and monitor delivery.
Coal Ministry Issues Mining Orders for Five Blocks, Including Two in Jharkhand
The Coal Ministry’s nominated authority has issued mining allocation orders for five coal blocks—Tandsi 3, Tandsi 3 Extension, Senduri, Tubed West, Chitarpur (Revised), and Phutamura. Of these, Tubed West and Chitarpur are in Jharkhand. The blocks, with reserves of 1556 million tonnes, are expected to generate Rs. 360 crore in annual revenue, attract Rs. 517 crore investment, and create over 4600 jobs.
Strike at Bokaro Steel Plant Deferred, Decision Now on 14th October
The strike scheduled at Bokaro Steel Plant on 10th October has been postponed following the intervention of the Regional Labour Commissioner, Dhanbad. A meeting between management and BAKS Union will be held on 14th October to decide on the union’s 30 demands, including a revised bonus formula. The union warned that if talks fail, a new strike date will be announced the same day.
